Star registration program had reached its deadline of
December 31st, but as per the Department of Taxation and Finance website they
are still accepting late registrations. New
legislation requires all homeowners receiving a Basic STAR exemption to register with the Tax Department
in order to receive STAR exemption.
If you’re a new homeowner, you
are probably eligible for Basic STAR. This lowers your school property
taxes. There is no requirement for length of ownership. You must
own your Home, be primary residence and earn less than $500,000 by the time you
apply. For more information, go to the website listed below.
Link for registration online is: http://www.tax.ny.gov/pit/property/star13/ or you
can register by calling 518-457-2036.
If you need help registering, feel free to call, email me
or stop by the office.
